In the fall of 2016, I trained with Jack Johansen to become a hypnotherapist, and it was an eye-opening experience. His pedagogy and commitment to his work are wonderful to witness. Jack’s continuous exploration and experimentation in the best ways to heal in the hypnotic state are behind his powerful, world-unique method, Dynamic Emotional Therapy (D.E.T). He has taken hypnotherapy to entirely new levels, pushing the boundaries of what is possible, and if I know him correctly, he will always be a pioneer and an explorer in the fascinating world of hypnotherapy.

Thanks to Jack, I now work full-time as a hypnotherapist, exclusively using D.E.T, and the results I see with my clients are astonishing. I vividly remember a teenager with severe social phobia, who struggled to be around strangers. Simple tasks like going to the store were difficult, and when she first met me, she let her hair fall over her eyes and had trouble making eye contact. Her mother funded three sessions with me, and by the third session, she said, “I didn’t want to come today, but my mom said I should.” I asked why, and she replied, “Because I can do everything I want now; I shop at the store and have no problems anymore.” Together, we had opened up her emotions and subconscious, healed her attachment issues, and created a sense of security where it was previously lacking. Thanks to the D.E.T model, her life had changed in just two sessions.

I am fascinated by how effective the method is and am very grateful to Jack as a teacher and mentor.

The Dynamic Emotional Therapy method is extraordinary in restructuring the subconscious, healing insecure attachment, and creating inner emotional security where it was previously missing. Each session is so powerful! The results of the sessions are evident in my clients’ lives.

A man who came to me was very conflict-averse. After one session, he shared how he had stood his ground and faced his fiery wife when she was critical and upset. He remained calm and said he would be happy to talk to her when she was not so negative. She was taken aback and said she understood him. This man’s emotional healing not only affected him but also those around him.

“Helen” was a warm and confident woman who exuded calm. But beneath the surface, we still found her insecurity from childhood with an alcoholic father, her confusion, and fears. It turned out that these issues had existed in previous generations as well; it is common for us to inherit emotional themes. By opening up the emotional aspect, we were able to create emotional liberation and reconciliation with what she had experienced and with her father. A happy and tired “Helen” left my small practice where I work.

When I started working as a hypnotherapist, I wondered why my clients came so few times, but as new clients appeared in a steady stream, I understood that they had achieved such good results quickly that they referred friends and acquaintances to me. This is still the case. Jack has revolutionized hypnotherapy through Dynamic Emotional Therapy. His clients who experience the method and we students who train with Jack continue to spread this out into the world. Many people owe Jack their improved quality of life, thanks to the ability to now live well-functioning lives.

It is with great joy and enthusiasm that I write this preface to the book *Dynamic Emotional Therapy*. This book offers us a unique insight into Dynamic Emotional Therapy and its ability to surpass conventional hypnotherapy, suggestion therapy, and placebo effects. We will explore the subconscious mind and delve deeply into our emotional triggers and behavior patterns. This is of particular significance as we strive to quickly reach out and create profound change in the world, where the next generation needs to be liberated from old inherited emotional patterns and dogmas.

We need to rapidly elevate our level of awareness and help the younger generation find themselves, their inner strength, and their inner peace. We need to foster empathy and understanding for cultural differences and see through controversial brainwashing. When we understand how fear can be used as a driving force for mass hypnosis, we can truly transform the world. It all starts with us, and here we have the tool.

Dynamic Emotional Therapy is a powerful tool for resolving emotional blockages and freeing ourselves from old wounds and negative patterns. Through this therapy, we not only gain insight into our own childhood experiences but also have the opportunity to explore our parents’ childhood experiences and the circumstances that shaped them. By engaging in internal role-playing, we can understand and empathize with their emotional experiences, which often lack a deeper connection to their own parents. This provides us with a deeper understanding of their life paths and opens the door to genuine forgiveness from the heart.

My own experience working with Dynamic Emotional Therapy has given me insight into its amazing effects and results. This therapeutic approach has a profound impact with rapid results that span three generations— from your parents to yourself and onward to your own or potential children. By exploring and resolving the emotional blockages stored in our subconscious mind, we can create a transformation that benefits not only ourselves but also future generations.

I am convinced that this book will serve as a powerful tool and a source of inspiration for anyone interested in Dynamic Emotional Therapy and its potential. By learning more about ourselves, our emotional triggers, and the subconscious mind, we can open up to a deeper understanding of our inner world and our relationships. I extend my deepest thanks to Jack, the author of this book, for sharing his extensive knowledge and experience and for creating Dynamic Emotional Therapy. I hope that you, the reader, will be inspired and motivated to explore and use this powerful tool for personal development and healing. Together, we can discover and integrate the deepest parts of ourselves and create a more harmonious and balanced existence for ourselves and our descendants.

My observations through traditional hypnotherapy with standardized templates and solely suggestions and imaginations have shown that I do not reach the root cause of the issues. Simplifying hypnosis methods into manuals has the advantage of making them more accessible and used. However, the downside is that the underlying principle of optimal responsiveness becomes diluted, resulting in techniques with moderate or negligible effects. For clients who are not severely traumatised, this may not be a major issue. But when aiming to help individuals with more severe attachment issues and low mental flexibility, a therapist needs to be attentive and flexible in mutual regulation for a more thorough attachment work. Without a dynamic process, only temporary symptom relief might be achieved, while the underlying problems persist.

Being a hypnotherapist is a process grounded in personal experience. The method largely involves shaping and processing unconscious material in the client to facilitate meaningful change. This includes learning strategies and interventions, as well as theoretical frameworks for the work. However, it also involves immersion, relaxation, daydreaming, and artistic training to develop sensitivity and listening skills. I listen to the client as they convey material to the hypnotherapist through their words, which is then processed to create positive change. It becomes a dance between the client and the therapist, and what I have discovered as a therapist is that it is between the words where sensitivity and creativity play a crucial role. Each session is unique and always exciting as no two are alike. Personal training and experience are prerequisites for translating knowledge into practical application in hypnotherapeutic work.

It is not about learning many different inductions and complex scripts to put people into trance. Practicing and becoming comfortable with basic hypnotherapy techniques is important. I increasingly use Dynamic Emotional Therapy in my sessions, which I find reaches the client on deeper levels by applying the attachment model. Here, the client gains insights into their upbringing, the patterns, and the shaping they have undergone, generation after generation. The results of the therapy are valuable and quick, often achieved in just 2-3 sessions.

I also use the dynamic and emotional induction described in the book, especially with clients who are rational and analytical. I can observe the client’s body language to gauge their receptiveness to internal work in their trance state, which may be expressed through various ideomotor signals such as nodding or finger movements, or even levitating arm movements. The elegance lies in the responsiveness, creating a dance between the client and the therapist. For clients who already show emotional reactions during the introductory phase, it is beneficial to start working from there directly, as they are already in the hypnotic state and no further induction is needed with ideomotor movements.

I strive for optimal responsiveness and dynamically tailor words and metaphors based on the client’s own language to reach even deeper levels in the client’s inner world, in harmony with their own representation system. My role as a therapist is not to give advice but rather to help the person find the skills they need to manage themselves and grow in a dynamic process. I view my therapeutic role as similar to a prompter behind the scenes in a play, inviting play and dance where the therapist’s ability to adapt to the client’s being on all levels, attuning to their emotional state and tension level, facilitates meetings on a non-verbal implicit level through hypnosis and dynamic methods, becoming an entry point to the past where the therapist gains access to the client’s inner stored library of emotions and thoughts in the hypnotic state. This can then guide and be guided in various directions, reminiscent of a parenting role meeting a young child, akin to a regulatory parenting creating a friendly bond. When therapy flows best, I have experienced with my clients a sense of being cradled in another person’s care without needing to communicate back, conveyed on a meta-level that we are together and you can feel safe, opening up to inner exploration and integration.

The goal is to promote a process where the client can take responsibility for their emotions and live in harmony with them. Honesty, openness, and presence are fundamental values in my therapeutic process. There is joy in these methods that I have experienced through personal practice. The potential lies in providing space for the creative and gestalt abilities in our right hemisphere. Hypnosis, with its ability to regulate relationships and use words and metaphors, is an outstanding tool in interpersonal work. This allows for change on many levels and creates a dynamic and unique process for each individual. D.E.T therapy opens doors to other possibilities for learning, restructuring, and change than traditional suggestion therapy, especially when the goal is deep and lasting change.

Jack’s emotional therapy, which he has further developed within hypnotherapy, has been invaluable tools for my personal development in this field. As Jack Johansen aptly puts it, we have only begun to scratch the surface of the fascinating world of hypnotherapy. The tools and insights I have gained through Jack’s emotional therapy have deepened my understanding and readiness to help my clients in a more effective and rewarding way. There is still much more to explore and discover in this field; it feels like learning is lifelong with new insights as no session is the same as the other. I am grateful and look forward to continuing this exciting and evolving journey with curiosity and openness alongside Jack and others who share our passion for hypnotherapy.
